Seattle Times: Fat Ugly Hog, or Corporate Lapdog?

There are some who say that these weekly polls are a big waste of time, but consider the big picture. In the past five weeks we have established karmic insignificance of fruit flies, the relative holiness of the Dalai Lama and Barack Obama, that Dorothy Day is twice as sexy as Simone Weil, and that the Ogre Spider has more amazing eyes than Winona Ryder. We have also learned that, in a bar fight, Don Rickles would kick the pudgy ass of Greg Nickles, and, by the slimmest of margins to date, we see that Seattle Human Services head Patricia McInturff has the Mayor’s back, but isn’t necessarily on crack.

This week, what animal does the Seattle Times most closely represent in their recent op-ed on the homeless campsite issue, a fat ugly hog, or a corporate lapdog? As always, the poll is at top right of this blog.

The results are in. Out of 1,035 visitors last week, 45 weighed in on this earth shattering and definitive poll. By the most decisive margin yet, it's corporate lapdog, 38-7. Thanks for helping to clarify.

definitely the corporate lap dog. One small enough to fit right inside the Mayor's pocket.

The Seattle Times and the Mayor serve the same Masters-the wealthy elite who run Seattle. Our role as good citizens and taxpayers is to shut the fuck up and pay our taxes and fund their grand plans.

My favorite part of the Times piece is "The men who live in the greenbelts — and it is almost always men..." Like, they'd be all for it if only there were gender diversity. "Where are the women? What do they think, we're gay? Give us some women!" Maybe we should get some women to do a "Women of Seattle's Greenbelts" calender just to satisfy the editors of the Seattle Times.

You see folks what my personal hero Mrr (one r is not enough for Mrr Blethen) Blethen is saying (yes it was he who composed the sentence "others are just a can's toss away.") is that these folks are all dirty stinking drunks who toss their cans away-presumably not very far. Unlike, say, King County Council member Jane Hague (who we endorsed for re-election) who simply leaves her empty cans on the restaurant table to be cleaned up by some person making minimum wage, and then drives home drunk. Or like Seattle City Council member McIver who drives home drunk and then lovingly assaults his wife of over thirty years. Our longstanding policy at the Seattle Times is to deplore homeless drunks, yet support wealthy and powerful drunks and wife beaters.

Yes on all counts.

And hey Dr. Wes - Nancy Kosnov, founder of Seattle Move-On was in a pin-up calendar for peace.

Seriously, Uta the pragmatist thinks you're onto something . . .
